Novotel Phuket Resort review: tiered pools above Patong Bay

The bay outlook and three-tier pools come from a hillside position, with slopes and stairs forming part of getting around the resort.

Patong from above

Novotel Phuket Resort occupies a green hillside above Patong Bay, with three-tier swimming pools and a broad range of rooms and suites. The elevated position is a reason to choose it, especially for guests who want sea views and time around the hotel pools. It also brings slopes and stairs, so the route through the property deserves attention alongside the view.

The official site lists 217 rooms and suites at 282 Phrabaramee Road. This is the hillside Novotel Phuket Resort, rather than Novotel Phuket Vintage Park or another Novotel elsewhere on the island. The distinction matters because the terrain, room types and outlook discussed here belong to this specific property.

The hotel describes Patong Beach as a ten-minute walk away and advertises a complimentary shuttle toward Bangla Road. The walking time is the hotel’s estimate, not a measured route for every room or guest. The shuttle connects a hillside base with central Patong; it should not be read as a guarantee of immediate transport whenever someone decides to go out.

Youzhiyuan_de, reviewing a July 2026 Deluxe Sea View stay on Trip.com, enjoyed the bay outlook and tiered pools but noted slopes and stairs within the resort. Another July Sea View family reviewer also found the hillside potentially challenging for older guests. These are two independent guest reports consistent with the published setting, rather than an assumption drawn only from elevated photographs.

Sea view, pool access or family beds

The official Deluxe Sea View description gives a private balcony facing the Andaman Sea. That is a different priority from choosing a garden-facing room or one connected directly to a pool. A resort with a bay outlook does not mean every room has the same view, and the category name is more informative than the hotel-wide scenery.

Deluxe Pool Access is listed at 38 square meters with direct access to a long shared pool. Its room page identifies a king bed, terrace and garden view. For someone planning repeated swims, the relationship between terrace and water may matter more than the sea outlook available elsewhere on the grounds.

The same page says bathtubs are subject to availability. That qualification is useful: a Pool Access booking should not automatically be pictured with a guaranteed bath as well as the pool outside. The published arrangement is clear about direct water access, while the bathroom fixture can vary.

Deluxe Family offers another kind of difference, with a double bed and bunk bed plus a private balcony. It addresses sleeping arrangement rather than simply moving the room closer to the pool. The official page gives conflicting area figures, so a single precise size is not a reliable basis for comparing it here. The double-and-bunk arrangement is the clearer published feature.

Children’s time away from the water

Kids World adds a dedicated indoor option to the resort’s family facilities. Its official page describes educational toys, storybooks, arts and crafts, games and workshop activities, with staff supervision during operating hours. Children under five must be accompanied by a parent, and parents must remain within the resort. This is more specific than a general promise that children can be left in care throughout the day.

Le Spa, fitness facilities and advertised cooking and Muay Thai activities broaden what adults can do on the property. Their presence makes this a resort where a day can include more than a room and an outing into Patong. They are published options, not evidence that every class or treatment is included in the room rate.

Guest comfort depends on the room position

An August 2026 Pool Access guest on Trip.com enjoyed having the pool immediately outside and liked the service and restaurant, while considering the facilities somewhat old. A July Family Room guest reported street noise and weak soundproofing in their particular room. These observations should not be extended to every building or category.

The Coffee House is the hotel’s published international breakfast venue, with a sea-facing setting. Recent guest accounts differ in how much they enjoy breakfast, so the meal is not a uniform verdict. Novotel Phuket Resort’s stronger defining features are its tiered pools, hillside outlook and family room choices. Guests comfortable with the terrain can make good use of that combination, while a completely level route through a compact hotel is a different requirement.
