Sawasdee Village review: choose your room and your canal pool

The decorative setting draws attention, but the real booking distinction is between an 18-square-metre room and a suite built around the water.

A hotel that invites a closer look

Decorative walkways, sculptures, greenery and water turn Sawasdee Village into more than a place to sleep near Kata Beach. Its Thai-inspired design is deliberately elaborate, and guests often notice the atmosphere as much as the room. A June 2026 Cabana guest described wanting to examine every corner, while other accounts singled out the pool’s appearance. It is a hotel for people who want the surroundings to be part of the holiday.

That visual identity can obscure a more practical distinction. The accommodation ranges from compact Garden Deluxe rooms to much larger suites and two-storey Baray Villas, with different relationships to the pools. Choosing a general resort photograph is not enough. The room category determines both how much living space is available and which version of the water-centred setting sits outside the door.

Garden Deluxe is genuinely compact

The official Garden Deluxe specification is 18 square metres for a maximum of two guests. Its wooden structure and Southeast Asian decorative mix give it character, but the stated area is important for anyone expecting a spacious resort room. It is the smaller base within the property, with the surroundings and shared facilities carrying more of the experience. Couples who spread out with luggage or spend long periods inside should take that size seriously.

Oasis Suite Garden View moves to 40 square metres and is published for up to three guests. It is described as a secluded garden setting near the canal pool. This is a meaningful increase in room area, with a different emphasis from the entry category. Being near the water, however, is distinct from having direct access: the hotel separately names Cabana Suite Pool Access for that arrangement.

Cabana makes the terrace part of the swim

Cabana Suite Pool Access measures 48 square metres, with a terrace and two sunbeds beside the 150-metre canal pool. The official description links the modern Thai styling to the Ramayana and riverside houses, with decorative routes leading to the suite. Inside, a large bed, starry ceiling lighting and a daybed that can become an extra bed create a more substantial room than Garden Deluxe.

A February 2026 Tripadvisor couple liked the staff but found their particular pool-access suite dark, with bamboo limiting the pool outlook and a longer walk than expected. That is one room-position account, not a judgement on every Cabana suite. It usefully shows that direct access to water and a wide view across it are separate qualities. Planting that provides screening can also reduce the openness another guest might prefer.

Baray is a different pool arrangement again

The Baray Villa is published at 106 square metres over two levels. Its bedroom is upstairs, while the downstairs lounge can accommodate extra beds on request. The water arrangement is unusually specific: an indoor dip pool, a private outdoor pool and a connection to a larger canal pool. The hotel’s facilities page reserves that 55-metre canal for Baray Villa guests, so its exclusivity should not be extended to the other accommodation categories.

The rest of the resort has its own pool distinctions. Garden Deluxe has a pool with a separate children’s area, while Cabana and Oasis are associated with the longer canal pool. The official facilities list also includes The Baray Spa, an indoor fitness room and cooking classes. These give the property reasons to hold attention beyond a quick swim, particularly for guests who enjoy spending time within an intricately designed setting.

The beach is an outing, not the terrace view

Sawasdee Village advertises an hourly shuttle to and from Kata Beach during the day. That is a useful connection, and a June 2026 guest also mentioned using it. The hotel should still be understood as a Kata base with a beach trip, rather than beachfront accommodation. Its pool terraces, gardens and decorative interiors are the main setting guests are choosing to wake up in.

Comfort reports add some balance. Two June 2026 Trip.com accounts, in Oasis and Cabana accommodation, complained about noisy air conditioning, while other guests praised clean rooms and friendly service. The strongest match is someone drawn to the artistic setting who also selects the right amount of space and pool access. Garden Deluxe, Cabana and Baray offer substantially different stays; the most useful comparison starts with those differences rather than the shared atmosphere alone.
