The Boathouse Phuket review: Kata beach frontage and terrace choices

Direct Kata beach access is the common attraction; ground-floor terraces, sea-facing seating and a rooftop suite offer different ways to enjoy it.

Kata Beach is immediately part of the hotel

The Boathouse Phuket sits directly on Kata Beach, with a restaurant facing the sea and rooms that offer several kinds of outdoor space. It is a practical choice for guests who want the beach to shape the day without a separate journey from an inland resort. The room decision is less straightforward: ground-floor beach proximity, a sea-view terrace and a rooftop suite are distinct experiences.

The property’s current official name is The Boathouse Phuket. Its address is 182 Koktanode Road, and it is managed by HPL Hotels & Resorts. The beachfront position is supported by recent guest accounts as well as the hotel’s own description, making it more than an attractive view photographed from somewhere nearby.

An August 2026 Seaview Terrace guest on Trip.com enjoyed the fine sand, nearby surfing lessons and the restaurant’s direct sea outlook. That is a useful example of how the location can work for someone spending time on Kata Beach. It does not establish that lessons are operated by the hotel, included in a stay or suitable under every sea condition.

The hotel’s description also puts nearby stores within reach. This is therefore a beach stay connected to Kata’s surrounding neighborhood, rather than a remote compound where every meal and activity must happen inside the property. The pool gives guests another water-side place to relax when they choose to stay in.

The outdoor space changes with the category

The official Beachfront Room page places these rooms on the ground floor, just steps from the beach, with private terraces. It lists an area of 39 to 43 square meters, a queen or twin beds and a rain-shower bathroom. Direct access to the hotel’s Jacuzzi is also highlighted. That last feature should not be mistaken for a private Jacuzzi built into each room’s terrace.

The ground-floor arrangement is the clearest choice for guests whose priority is proximity to the sand and a terrace close to shared facilities. It is a different use of the setting from looking out over the beach from higher accommodation. The published description establishes that position; it does not establish a step-free route across every part of the hotel.

Seaview Terrace Rooms are listed at 40 square meters and have furnished private terraces with sea and sunset outlooks. The room page gives a queen or twin bed choice and a rain shower. The terrace is the defining feature, providing somewhere to sit outside while keeping the sea in view from the accommodation.

The Hideaway Suite makes a more substantial change. Its official page lists 81 square meters, a private rooftop terrace with deck chairs, and an indoor lounge and living area. The bathroom is described with a bathtub for two, separate rain shower and dual washbasins, with an additional outdoor open-air shower. These features belong to that suite; they are not a general specification for all Boathouse rooms.

The distinction is useful for couples choosing how much time they expect to spend in their own accommodation. A rooftop terrace and separate lounge provide a different form of retreat from a ground-floor room near the beach, even though both share the same Kata setting.

Meals with the beach in view

The official dining page describes local and international cuisine at The Boathouse Restaurant, with beachfront views. It also lists a Pool Bar serving snacks and drinks beside the swimming pool. Meals and pool time are therefore linked closely to the waterfront, rather than being facilities hidden away from the main attraction.

Yexuelian, a repeat guest reviewing a July 2026 Deluxe Seaview family stay on Trip.com, praised the comfortable, clean room, staff and breakfast. The August Seaview Terrace reviewer also liked the restaurant view and balcony. Those accounts concern different room categories but point to a shared strength in beach-facing spaces and service.

The hotel also advertises cooking a four-course Thai meal among its activities. That offers a specific alternative to another beach session without changing the property’s main identity. The Boathouse is most persuasive for guests who want direct Kata frontage and useful outdoor room space, with the choice of terrace position deserving as much attention as the overall sea-view label.
