Baan Krating Phuket review: a green retreat beside Ao Sane

A small-bay setting with greenery and snorkelling appeals most when a quiet day at the resort is the plan.

A different kind of Rawai address

A terrace among trees and a small shoreline below give Baan Krating Phuket its character. The resort is in the Ao Sane area of Rawai, away from the experience of stepping straight into a busy shopping street. Its strongest attraction is the possibility of spending the day between room, shore and pool without needing the wider town to supply every activity. That is also the reason to consider the location carefully.

A June 2026 Trip.com guest praised the quiet setting and responsive staff, but said a car or scooter was useful. An April couple likewise described a secluded property with a strong sense of nature. Those reports make the hotel’s position easier to understand: the greenery is part of a more removed stay. Travellers who enjoy spontaneous walks to different shops and restaurants may experience the same separation as an inconvenience.

The shore gives the day a focus

The official recreation page describes direct access to Ao Sane Beach, spelled Ao Sarn on that page, and a smaller strip on the opposite side. Snorkelling is listed as an activity, alongside a freeform pool with loungers. These are unusually specific reasons to choose the property. The coastal setting can supply something to do beyond looking at the water, while the pool provides a separate option when the sea does not suit the day’s plans.

The June guest enjoyed swimming and seeing fish during their stay. A February 2025 family account also particularly praised snorkelling, staff and meals, while finding breakfast ordinary. Those are reports from particular visits rather than a guarantee about water clarity or sea conditions. The shoreline should be understood as part of an outdoor holiday whose experience changes with conditions, not a promise of the same swimming on every date.

Room names separate size from outlook

Baan Krating’s official room range makes a useful distinction between rooms and pavilions. Deluxe Garden is published at 25 square metres; Deluxe Beachfront at 25–30. Pavilion categories are listed at 40–45 square metres. Moving to a pavilion is therefore a substantial change in stated room area, while moving from a garden to a sea-facing category changes the outlook. The two decisions should not be confused.

The Deluxe Pavilion page describes a king bed, garden-view terrace, refrigerator, safe and tea and coffee facilities, with a shower bathroom. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi are part of the practical equipment behind the rustic Thai styling. It gives guests a comfortable base for time in the greenery, but the category itself does not promise a sea view. That requires one of the explicitly sea-view or beachfront choices.

Connecting accommodation is another category-specific detail. The official comparison lists connecting rooms for Deluxe Pavilion Sea View and Deluxe Pavilion Beachfront, while the other categories are marked without them. Families needing that arrangement should make it an explicit part of the room discussion. A general family-capacity description does not establish connecting bedrooms or an included extra bed; the garden pavilion lists extra beds as chargeable and on request.

Enough to stay in, with the outside trip planned

The Jungle Restaurant serves Thai and Western food in an open-air setting near the pool, with a terrace overlooking the ocean. The resort also publishes a Laem Krating nature trail and an indoor common area with a pool table and board games. Those facilities fit the location: meals, a walk and a shaded pause can all form part of a day spent close to the room.

The guest review material does not present every room experience as equally polished. One February 2026 couple criticised cleanliness and the hotel’s age, contrasting with the positive accounts of other stays. It is one brief report, not evidence that every pavilion shares those problems. Baan Krating is most persuasive for travellers who actively want a green coastal retreat and are comfortable arranging outings, with the room category chosen for the space and outlook they will use.
