Railay Princess Resort & Spa review: pier access and two pools

Near the East Railay pier, the hotel offers two contrasting pools and a room range where a terrace does not always mean a view.

Close to arrival, across from the swimming beach

Railay Princess Resort & Spa sits on the east side of Railay, near the floating pier. Its practical attraction is easy access after arriving by boat, paired with a rooftop pool and another pool among the gardens. Travelers looking for West Railay’s beach should understand the distinction: staying here means crossing to the west side rather than stepping from the room onto that sand.

The official location page describes a route to the west coast beach and walking street, as well as airport transfers using a private van and longtail boat for an additional fee. The boat stage remains part of arriving even when a combined transfer is arranged. Mainland parking is described by the pier, which is useful context for drivers: it is not parking beside the hotel room.

Guest accounts support the pier convenience. A July 2026 Premier Room traveler on Trip.com liked being able to reach the resort soon after disembarking. A June Premier guest made a similar point about arrival from Ao Nam Mao. These reports explain the location’s value without turning the east-side waterfront into an equivalent of the west-side swimming beach.

A terrace with a limited view is still a different room

The official Standard Room page lists 35 square meters, a double bed and a large private terrace. Its amenities specify a balcony with limited view. That qualification matters more than broad photographs of cliffs and water elsewhere on the site. A terrace provides outdoor space, but it does not establish a particular scenic outlook.

The Standard category lists a shower, capsule coffee machine, refrigerator with stocked minibar and personal safe. These are published features of that category; a stocked minibar is not, on its own, a statement that every item is free. The room’s main appeal in the description is the combination of indoor space and a place to sit outside.

Deluxe Rooms are listed at 45 square meters, with double or twin beds, a garden-facing terrace, and both a shower and bathtub. The difference is therefore tangible: more published area, a defined garden outlook and a bath. It is a more useful comparison than assuming every higher room category simply adds a better sea view. The property offers several further categories, so room names deserve attention when reading guest comments.

The pools offer different outlooks

The official pool page separates a rooftop pool with views toward Railay’s limestone mountains from a garden pool overlooking the lake and greenery. These are two distinct spaces, giving guests a choice of setting without having to go to the beach each time they want to swim. For a resort on Railay’s east side, that choice is a meaningful part of the stay.

An August 2026 Superior Room guest on Trip.com singled out the rooftop pool after praising the welcome and room outlook. The July Premier reviewer also enjoyed its views. Those two accounts support the pool’s appeal, while the hotel’s own description is the clearer source for distinguishing the mountain-facing rooftop setting from the lake-side garden pool.

The official site lists a Kids Club, but availability is affected by dated renovation notices. Agoda and Booking.com publish work scheduled from June 1 to October 31, 2026, covering Buildings 1 and 2, including Deluxe, Grand Deluxe and Junior Suite Corner accommodation, plus the restaurant, main kitchen, bar and Kids Club. The notice is a planned closure period, not confirmation that every facility reopens immediately afterwards.

Breakfast location is a practical question here

A July 2026 Deluxe guest on Trip.com reported leaving the property for breakfast and complained of a sewage smell in the room. Agoda’s renovation announcement separately specifies a temporary mini-buffet breakfast at Railay Bay Resort during the works. That gives the dining change a published context; the smell remains the individual guest’s room experience. Confirm the current breakfast venue when arranging a stay after the scheduled works.

Other July Deluxe reviewers described clean, comfortable rooms and helpful staff, so the evidence does not justify a blanket condition verdict. Agoda’s notice says Superior and Premier Rooms and the Garden Pool remain operating during the stated renovation period. Railay Princess suits guests who value the east pier and terrace-based rooms while accepting a walk to West Railay. Current room and pool availability should be established alongside breakfast arrangements, since those details shape each day.
