A balcony built for more than a quick look outside
Avatar Railay Resort is on Railay East, close to the pier, with a swimming pool and rooms that make a large balcony daybed part of the accommodation. The appeal is a comfortable base for moving around Railay and spending time beside the pool. Its east-side location is convenient for boat arrival, while guests walk elsewhere on the peninsula for the main swimming beaches.
Lauzie, describing a September 2026 Deluxe stay on Trip.com, singled out the large bed, separate toilet and shower, umbrellas, torch and balcony daybed overlooking the pool. Those are useful details because they describe how the room works, rather than simply calling it spacious. The balcony provides a place to lie down outside the bedroom, and the bathroom’s divided arrangement separates functions that are often combined in one room.
The official Deluxe page supports those main features. It lists 35 square meters in the main block, air conditioning, a balcony with a six-foot daybed, and separate WC and shower rooms. Tea and coffee equipment, a mini fridge and a safe are also part of the published room setup. The daybed should not automatically be treated as a confirmed extra sleeping place: it is described as balcony furniture.
A shared pool outside the terrace or a private one
The official Pool Access page lists the same 35-square-meter area but places the category on the ground floor of the main block. Its balcony leads into the main swimming pool, with a shallow ledge intended for reclining on sunbeds in the water. That is a more immediate connection to the shared leisure space than a pool-facing balcony above it.
Pool Access and Pool Suite are distinct names here. The official Pool Suite page describes 80 square meters, bedroom and living room side by side, and an individual private pool reached from the balcony. It also lists a large daybed and separate WC and shower room. The extra living space and private pool create a different arrangement from a standard room opening to the resort pool.
This makes the room labels unusually important to reading a review. Praise for a balcony facing the main pool does not establish that a Deluxe guest had direct water access, and a reference to a private pool belongs to a different category again. The common daybed feature ties the accommodation together, while pool position separates the choices.

East-side convenience has a clear limit
The hotel’s own description states that access is by boat and that it has a boat deck, with hotel boats available for a charge. That is useful arrival infrastructure, rather than evidence of a complimentary transfer. The journey remains different from a hotel reached directly by car in Ao Nang.
Mariia2706, reviewing an August 2026 Deluxe stay on Trip.com, liked the proximity to the pier and local cafés and laundry service. Another August Deluxe guest emphasized that the nearby waterfront was not where they went swimming, describing walks to other beaches instead. Those accounts make the east-side tradeoff concrete without relying on a precise walking time.
The pool helps balance that location. The official facilities list includes poolside showers and toilets, a sun deck and towel service, along with an international restaurant and cocktail bar. Guests can use the hotel’s water and lounge space between outings rather than treating every swim as a trip across Railay.
Comfort, light and the booking label
Mariia2706 praised cleanliness and breakfast but found the room dim and wanted more natural light. That is an individual Deluxe-room observation, not a claim about every room. It is still a relevant counterpoint to the balcony’s appeal for guests who prefer bright interiors.
Booking sites use both adults-only and adult-friendly labels for Avatar, while its older official accommodation page contains child-suitability wording. The current admission rule needs confirmation for any younger traveler; the labels alone do not establish a reliable minimum age. For adults seeking an east-pier base, the strongest evidence is clearer: distinct pool arrangements, a substantial balcony daybed and a room layout that guests have found comfortable.
A few useful answers
Is Pool Access the same as a private pool?
No. The official Pool Access description opens to the main swimming pool. The separate Pool Suite category is described with an individual private pool.
